New Years Eve 2009 also known as our Anniversary date, we made our final move to Germany.
From the hotel at DFW airport....start time 3am.
10+hr layover in Chicago airport.
11 hour flight to Frankfurt airport...arrival time 6am
It was a long haul, but we sucked it up and made the best of it. I can't say enough about Chicago Airport, its super super nice and kid friendly--play area and all.
And our flight to Germany was at night, something we've never done before, so the kids slept the entire flight....M and I not so much.
Then a two hour drive to Omi's and we made it!
24 hours later, we made it.
Now that make me tired!
Here are the photos start to finish
Wake up butter-ball! I know its 3am, but we gotta get!
We stayed at the airport at DFW, so leaving this early was super super easy. Smart Move #1
Someone's still tired.....
First a train ride to the departure terminal...
Chicago here we are! We planned on going in to the city to eat and sight see, but once we got there we realized we had no way to store our carry on luggage. Plus it was cold and snowy outside so we stayed put.
Chili's for breakfast first then to explore Chicago Airport-Smart move #2

Time to take off. I sat behind these two international travelers.....So BIG!
Good Morning Germany, we hope your ready for us.....be gentle!
Look at all that luggage......UGHHHH, makes me tired too.
Not kidding, we stop at the first gas station we can to get Matthias this sandwich every time, kinda like me and my Taco Villa fix in Lubbock~~
Omi, Uncle Stefan and Sabrina greeted us with NYE decorations and all!
But first we must wrestle with US, like we do with all our uncles...
Jet-lagged a bit? I think so.
Our first visitors......Caro,Mike and baby Nina!
we're in the same Country and still never see each other....we gotta change this!
Tomorrow will be our 3 month anniversary here...only 3 months, it feels like we've been here longer than this. Hmmmm. Looking forward to Easter at Omi's!
Happy Spring to all~~~
